My Burning Questions About Life

There are two questions that have stumped me for years. One why alien life has not been found, and how matter was formed. With alien life it's really interesting that we can only find Earth. Even just simple life such as single celled organisms haven't been found. Why only Earth, what put us here. Also matter like atoms and quarks who were made. These are the most simple building blocks of the universe yet what created them. How can something be the first.
