Write about a conversation that changed you.

A conversation that changed me is when I was talking to Frankie. Me and many others were in a tree house type house. Frankie then told me "always look people in the eyes, and never step on your friends feet". These words really help me in meeting people can keeping relationships with people. We did claim and evidence practiced. I learned about screen time usage over years.

Write about something that you believed as a child.

As a child I believed in the tooth fairy. I would always hide my teeth under my pillow to get a few bucks. I remember getting so excited when I had a wiggle tooth; I would always try to force it out. Besides that I was never really told another story. Work on vocabulary lesson II. I learned what baroque means.

Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

I am afraid to accept the truth of growing old. Being old and in retirement seems so hard for me. I see my Bubbie single and alone with only her cat, with her only major social time with her family. I know one day I will grow old, but I never like thinking about it.

As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

One topic I will most likely have to stand up for more often is LGBTQ+ rights since I have family members and friends in my life who are in this group. With the way the world is going in some parts of the LGBTQ+ group it is becoming harder for people like my cousin and her boyfriend .

Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

A time I felt judged unfairly is when Nathan thought that I'm a bad driver for not using my parking brake. My car dose not need the parking brake used in all situation. My father has never used, and so do I. My car can be put in park and it does the same thing, and more effectively. We did a common lit. I learned about fear from Ted Talk.

Imagine you are learning about Hispanic/Latino heritage for the very first time. What would you be curious to know about the traditions, foods, music, or celebrations?

If it was my first time learning about Hispanic and or Latino heritage, I would be interested in their music. I have always found music in different cultures to be very interesting. You can tell a lot about history by which instruments they, play and what kind of sound they prefer. We took notes on how to create a well formatted brainstorm. I learned how to create a cluster chart.

After viewing your classmates’ poem posters, select one presentation that caught your attention. Describe what you enjoyed about it or something new you learned from their work.

One poem that caught my attention was Collin's poem since it was about religion. I enjoyed that believing in a higher power gives the power to move forwards I have my beliefs and it does help believing in something out there watching me We presented our poems. I learned about the different poem everyone wrote.

In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

One time I felt someone was out of place in my world is really never. I never felt as if someone shouldn't be somewhere. Everyone has a reason for their actions, almost every time it's them trying to do good. So I never really felt this way. We read  “The Interlopers” by Saki. I learned about the meaning of "The Interlopers".

It’s Homecoming Week! 🎉 What do you love most about being part of the Lakeside community? How do you show off your school spirit? What is your favorite Homecoming tradition or event?

What I like most about the Lakeside community, is just how many different groups there are. Every club and sport is full of all kinds of people, and no group is lacking. I show off my school spirit with joining events like Homecoming, and the Football games. My favorite Homecoming traditions is the pep rally since I get to play Earth, Wind, and Fire the whole time. We did a test on "Constantly Risking Absurdity" by Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

Which learning method do you enjoy the most? Class discussions, worksheet work, or hands-on actvities. Select one and tell why.

When learning in each class I prefer a different learning method, like in math I prefer worksheets, but in physics I prefer hands-on. In ELA the method I like to use is class discussions. I really learn best with fish bowl type discussion, since I can fully dive into the subject with others, really helping me. When did independent work on our poetry. I learned that I don't like using Adobe Express, and how to make animations on it.

After reading Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem "Constantly Risking Absurdity," which explores the poet's daring craft, write about your most absurd personal experience. Describe a single, specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish. Ensure your response is vivid, concise, and captures the essence of absurdity.

One thing that I did that was absurd is when I and three others climbed up a small pole and got about 30 feet off the ground. The top of the pole was a little less than a foot wide, and we all had to stand on it together. We climbed up one by one. By the third person we used each other to climb up, grabbing legs, arms, thighs, etc. Once we all got up, we grabbed each other's arms and started leaning back, slowly trying to grab hands. Then we fell, but we were strapped in a  belay, and were fine. Read "Constantly Risking Absurdity". Leaned how writing can be taking risk.

You are currently working on a soundtrack for selected Emily Dickinson poems. With that in mind, if asked to choose a song to describe your life right now, which song would you select and why?

If I had to choose a song to relate to my life I would choose " stickshifts and bucket seats" by Cake. Since the song is about having fun driving with people, and at my age I have only just gotten my license. We did a song poem project. I learned more of Emily Dickinson's writing.

You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

So far class has not been too bad. I really enjoyed creating an  origin myth, I wasn't fond of using Writable though. The grammar, and spell check tools were really annoying to use. I am really eager to start poetry. I grew up reading Shel Silverstein, his poems really got me into poetry. We read a poem about losing a loved one. I learned about Heart, we will forget him!.
